Civil & commercial litigation · Romania
Bring a claim or defend your position.
A disputed payment, an unfulfilled contract or a claim brought against you needs more than a reaction. First Principle assesses the facts, evidence and procedural position, then defines the appropriate response with you. The practice is led by Șerban George Patriciu.

What we look at
- 01Contractual obligations, disputed payments and civil liability
- 02Claims, defences, available evidence and missing documents
- 03Procedural stage, relevant deadlines and potential costs
- 04Settlement options and the scope of court representation
Assess the position before choosing the route
The initial assessment considers the documents, the chronology, what each party is seeking and the evidence available. First Principle explains the legal options, weaknesses and information still needed, so the next step reflects the circumstances of the dispute.
Define each stage of the dispute
Pre-action correspondence, settlement discussions and court proceedings can require different work. The engagement specifies the claims or defence, the procedural stage, the documents to prepare and the representation included. Appeals and enforcement are assessed and agreed separately where appropriate.
Work in clear stages
- 01
Assess the dispute
Establish the facts, documents, procedural position and any immediate deadline.
- 02
Agree the response
Define the claim or defence, the work to be done and the fee for the agreed stage.
- 03
Conduct the agreed stage
Prepare the agreed documents, conduct discussions or provide court representation, with updates on the next steps.
Other work and costs
The engagement specifies the procedural stage and courts covered. Appeals, enforcement, interim applications and additional claims require an express scope. Court fees, expert fees and other third-party costs are identified separately. An assessment or representation does not guarantee a particular outcome.
05 / Fees
Know what the work will cost.
A fixed fee. An agreed price for clearly defined work, so you know the fee before we begin.
Priced stages. For transactions and disputes, agree the work and fee for each stage before it starts.
Hourly, where appropriate. For work whose extent cannot be defined at the outset, at a rate agreed in advance.
For regular advice, we can agree a monthly fee covering the work and availability you need. Work outside that arrangement is discussed and priced separately.
